Book arts, a long tradition kept alive...
grafART Bookbindery ALEXANDER BAUHART bookbinder
Mr. Bauhart is a musician by training. However, his dear grand-father gave him the gift, at the age of 14, of the art of bookbinding. He gave Alexander the tools, equipment, and teachings that make a binder genuine and true to the art of covering books for preservation. Alexander learned from his dear grandpa how to prepare his own glues, how to make a tool when there is none, and how to calmly assess each book for its troubles, past mis-handlings or damages. All books should be saved, he said often. That is exactly what Mr. Bauhart now tries to achieve, to the best of his knowledge.
Always learning something new, formations and workshops by the hundreds, he acquired a mastery that is greatly in demand these days, when people realise that their books are valuable and that they should be fixed, restored and saved for posterity.
